So, it seems I'm supposed to talk about myself here. The first thing you should know about me? I hate talking about myself. But I'll do it because Jess asked me to, and if you know me, you know I'll do just about anything she asks!
My stats: I'm 36, married and mom to 7 furbabies. Yes, my 5 cats and 2 dogs are my "kids" and that's the way I like it!
Now, for the real reason we're here...
My name is Cuffy, and I am a Roboholic and fanfic addict. I am not a writer. While I like to think I'm a good writer when I have to be, I am nowhere near creative enough to create the complex and fascinating stories that I read. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
I got my first taste of Twilight just after the first movie came out. I actually bought the first book for my niece as a Christmas gift, but one day I was in need of something to read and figured Twilight was better than nothing. Well, I think it's pretty obvious I was hooked from the get go or I wouldn't be here now! In my opinion, Stephenie Meyer is a story-telling genius. I've never read a series of books that made me forget to eat for crying out loud!
So, I read the books and decided I needed to see the movie. Seriously, the only person in the movie I had ever even heard of was Kristen Stewart. I had no idea who Robert Pattinson or any of the other actors were. *hangs head in shame* Heck, I had to bribe my SIL to go with me! So, on a rainy Saturday afternoon in December 2008, we went to see Twilight. I kid you not, neither of us moved the entire 2 hours. When it was over, we walked out, bought two more tickets and went right back in to see it again. Yeah, I think you can see where I'm going with this!
Thus began my addiction to all things Twilight and Robert Pattinson. Oh, who am I kidding? It's all Rob, all the time for me. Seriously, there's no one who even comes close to him in my book. Freebie five? Nope. I just need one, thanks!
Wow, I'm a wordy bitch, aren't I? Who knew? Maybe that's why I don't write...I tend to ramble. Huh.
Anyway, where was I? Right...my Robsession. No one in RL understood my Robsession, so I joined Twitter. I mean, where else could I find other people who also had over 1,000 pics of Rob? Certainly not in RL!
From there, I discovered fanfic. NGL, I was skeptical at first. Why would I want to read stories about Edward & Bella when I could just read Twilight again? There's no way some amateur author's story could be better than the original, right? Pfffft. So, with skepticism firmly in check, I dove into my first story on Twilighted. Well, let me tell you...from that point on I was hooked! And yes, I have read stories that are better than the original in some ways. There are some extremely talented writers in this fandom!
So how did I get here? NGL, I read A LOT of fanfic. And I follow quite a few authors on Twitter, but I never really tweeted them. After reading The Unaccompanied Soul (Abandonward owns me), I started following Jess. And one day I tweeted her...and she tweeted me back! (I may have totally fangirled when she tweeted me) Imagine my surprise to find myself having regular conversations with the author of a popular fic! Now, I'm proud to say she's my friend. (I still fangirl...) But never in a million years did I think that I would be asked to co-author a fic reccing blog with several talented writers! *more fangirling*
So, what will you find on my fic rec page?
- Twilight fics. I haven't read Hunger Games, The Vampire Diaries, True Blood or any other series so it only makes sense that I haven't read any fics about them either. Can't rec them if I haven't read them!
- EDWARD - might be Bella & Edward or Jasper & Edward, but there will always be EDWARD.
- Slash, BDSM, etc. You name it, I've probably read it.
- Lemons. 'Nuff said!
